Description/Mission: Illinois Harvest grew out of a conviction that Becky and Dean Adams have held for decades that the best food is grown for quality, not quantity. This means avoiding the use of chemicals and preserving heritage breeds of livestock and heirloom varieties of vegetables. Contained in the older, hardy breeds that aren't suited for feedlots and confinement operations are the genetics that hold nutrition and flavor at their best. Vegetables too fresh and fragile for shipment explode with mouth-watering flavors and vitamins that are lost when bred for tough skins and uniform ripening. Through Illinois Harvest, they want to bring old fashioned service and quality to Clinton and beyond. |
